Kidding Schedule & Goat Sales 2023

***UPDATED 2023***RESERVATION INSTRUCTIONS***UPDATED 2023

We are making the following changes as we are beyond crazy busy during kidding season. We need to maximize our efficiency and keep the herd healthy by keeping numbers in check.

-- Reservations are verbal
-- Once I contact you about an available kid, you have 24 hours / one day to get back to me if you are interested in a kid.
-- If you want a kid, you will have one week to get a $100 deposit to hold the kid.
-- If you wish us NOT to disbud the price must be paid in full before 10 days of age.
-- Kids can be held until two months of age, at which point the full purchase price is due (or you will forfeit the deposit).
-- Kids picked up before 1 month of age will receive a $50 discount.
-- Arrangements for pickup will need to be made by two months of age.
-- Kids NOT picked up by 2 months of age will be charged $15/week boarding fee, charged at the end of each week.
-- If the desired kid is not healthy enough for shipping we will reimburse deposit + other payment received, and try to find another kid that would be a good match. This may not be possible.
-- Bucklings may not be available even if one is produced; we firmly believe that bucks must be something special.
-- If you have not reserved a kid before birth prices may change - as our prices are pretty reasonable prices are more likely to increase as we start milking the dams.
-- Please email us (dappleman AT mac DOT com) or Facebook message us if you are interested in a particular pairing, and what sex you are interested in, or if you have ANY questions. Feel free to contact us again around the due date, as mentioned above, we are going without much sleep during kidding season.

Changes may be made as our circumstances demand. Farming is never easy, and kidding season is stressful for us and the goats. We may not offer kids born out of a particular breeding if they are slow to mature, not of sufficient quality, or if we decide to retain them for our herd.

More kids will be for sale as the season progresses, as we cannot keep all the nice ones. A few of the does will also be for sale as marked. Watch on this page!

We loved Java's long persistent lactations--she has gone on to elite status under Westi Haugheys exceptional herdsmanship. 		10/10/22	03/03/23	Dutch Belted is a strong but nicely dairy doe that has continued to develop into a striking, and very milky doe. She has managed to get close to 1000 pounds in her last full lactation while being mostly milked once a day, as well as being fed a diet that made most of the other does in our herd significantly drop production. We weren't sure she was going to make it, but at the last moment she has improved. During her recovery, we decided to do IVF to allow her to have a year off to fully recover. Cavatina has a definite will to succeed, and improved enough that by the end of the season she was bred live cover -- we'll see if she has settled.... This breeding is one of the closest ones for us this year. Cernunnos and Keidan were full brothers, and CountNBlessns (Count's dam) is a granddaughter of Cernunnos. 		10/18/22	03/10/23	Hazel is an incredibly nice doe that has not gotten shown as she is right at the height limit & will often measure over height by 1/4 inch. The few 'height challenged' does that we have had in our herd have been sold, but we feel that Hazel has a lot to offer, so for now she stays. Pachacuti and his dam are on the smaller side, and we are hoping to get shorter daughters from this breeding. We are crossing our fingers! We are continually trying to improve rump structure, and the last couple generations are a big improvement, so we hope that this trend continues. 		10/26/22	03/23/23	Lakmé's full sister Brava ended up doing pretty well in a few shows of 2021, and Lakmé resembles her sister. These does are particularly impressive from the rear, with lovely udder arches. Espero is a young buck out of a promising FF - the reason why he was kept is that he has perhaps the best rump structure on a buck that we have bred to date. The reason Espero was chosen for this breeding was to hopefully improve rump structure while keeping that udder arch by linebreeding on Piddlin Acres W Taboo 07-01 VEEE 90. We were hoping to repeat the breeding to Rondo, which produced a lovely doeling that was sold to the right person. Unfortunately the bucks next door felt left out, and lifted the gate to join the party. This situation was not for long, but long enough to lend some uncertainty. Originally ultrasounded with at least triplets, there is now nothing on ultrasound, meaning she probably reabsorbed. After all that drama, Tramontana is open... --	500	500
